Posted 2 months ago Hello HR Community.. Greetings, I wanted to post this question to ALL HR professionals. What do you think is the hottest buttom in HR that warrants a study? It could be in any topic. This is for my dissertation from school. I know I want it to be in HR, but what exactly, the jury is still out on. So please, chime-in and give something to lead into, that will ignite a quanitative/qualitative/mix-method study. |

| Posted 2 months ago It is not easy for anyone in HR to answer you. The "hottest" HR issue in any organization will depend on the organization itself. In a NEWLY set up company, the hottest issue could be Recruitment of talents (war for talents). In a developed and mature company, the most important issue could be Motivating employees OR improving productivity (doing more with less, cutting on waste and fats); and in a declining company, the most important HR issue could be "retrenchments". Best of luck in your studies and hope that you will find a subject that you will enjoy doing your research. |

| Posted 2 months ago To me technology is the hottest button. Hr needs to learn the latest and greatest technologies in order to perform their task. if it involves recruiting, you need to know what technology is available to help you. . If it involves the latest in employement law, HR needs to know how to use the latest technology to make sure they adhere to the laws. Technology still has a ways to go to help HR and get them out of the "Picinic and Insurance Form" Business (From J Welch's Speech to SHRM). How can the HR professional use technology to recruit, train, and manage employees and the manage job functions. There are major laws out there that HR has to follow and most have no clue how to use the latest technolgy to make sure these laws are followed. In order to get to the next level, Hr needs to be able to use the tools that are availible and be able to demand what tools they need so the software vendors can meet the demands. Hr needs to learn how to take all the data they have collected, learn what additional data is needed and learn how to analysis it and present it to show how the HR function has value to the company's bottom line. it is amazing that most HR software vendors have very little clue as to why Hr needs the data they collect, they just copy what other vendor have done and just update the technology. In order for that to change, HR needs to know what they can and can not do, they need to learn how to use technology to support their jobs and then demand that the software companies give you the ability to support it. HR can not ask the software companies to provide the tools they need until Hr learns how to use technology. As HR professionals we collect a lot of data, but for what purpose. Now we need to learn to use technology to make all that data mean something. |

| Posted 2 months ago I completely second srtoady. HR technology is the current hot topic among most HR leaders the world over in these times. How HR technology can revolutionalize the way businesses perform today. There is a dearth of good academic literature on this topic hence a good dissertation study accompanied by sound research can go a long way.
HR measurement and Metric can be another interesting topic that warrants alot of attention from business managers in most global companies. |
