We did the white elephant gift exchange and it's a safe game that's always popular. Potlucks are great too... never knew some people could cook!

I LOVE white elephant games. Back at my old job (former military here) we did this every year within our battalion office. Of course, lots of people brought alchohol as gifts so that was the way to stay in the game (we changed the rule that it could be stolen once to three times before it was "out") was to continue swapping out bottles of alcohol.
